HSE Students Win KHU Case Competition

Third-year students of the HSE University and Kyung Hee University double-degree programme in Economics and Politics in Asia are currently studying in South Korea. A team of students from the programme recently took part in a case competition organised by Kyung Hee University and Yuyu Pharma, a pharmaceutical company. The team won the competition and received an opportunity to implement their project when the market situation stabilises.

Gleb Zinkovsky graduated from ICEF with a bachelor’s degree in 2014, before working as an Associate for PwC (Cyprus) and E&Y (Moscow). After completing the Yandex Praktikum training course, Gleb went on to work in the fintech field. He now works at Jasper (Israel) as a Product Analyst. In his interview, Gleb tells us what it’s like to begin a career in tax consultancy, move on to business analytics, and eventually end up in product analytics.

Three University Missions Ranks HSE University First among Russian Universities in Four Subject Rankings

HSE University took first place in four subject rankings and second place by the number of gold medals among Russian universities. The university entered the top three Russian universities by receiving nine prizes in various fields. The Three University Missions subject rankings in 29 fields of study were presented for the first time at an open meeting of the Council of the Russian Union of Rectors and the Association of Rating Makers.

Researchers Investigate Differences Between Post-Stroke and Post-Surgery Aphasia

Researchers from the HSE Centre for Language and Brain worked with Russian doctors to address the differences between the symptoms of post-stroke aphasia and aphasia caused by glioma surgery. Post-surgery patients demonstrate moderately severe speech disorders that impact all aspects of language processing simultaneously. Understanding these differences will help doctors develop more effective therapies for speech disorders caused by surgical removal of gliomas. The results of the study were published in Brain and Language.

Consortium Led by HSE University Wins Norilsk Renovation Competition

The Open International Architectural and Planning Concept Competition for the Renovation of Norilsk up to 2035 received a total of 27 submissions from 12 individual applicants and 15 consortiums from 13 countries. The winner was a consortium of six companies from Russia, Austria, and France led by HSE University. Eleven HSE University institutes and competency centres were involved in the development of the project. The aim of the competition was to create a comprehensive vision of the development of Norilsk up to 2035.

The M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University in Nur-Sultan hosted the launch of a Master's programme in ‘Competition Law’ and the presentation of the textbook ‘Competition Law and Policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan’. The foreword to the textbook was written by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The discussion was moderated by Alexey Ivanov, Director of the BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre at HSE University. A delegation from the Centre also took part in the event.

However, in Eastern Europe, early mortality in men aged 50 and under accounts for over a third of it. Demographer Marina Vergeles examined the situation in more than 40 countries and shared her conclusions with IQ.HSE.
