Million-Rouble Startup: HSE University Students on Their Projects
Anastasia Yanke and Vadim Yelkin, students of the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM), have each received a grant of one million roubles to pursue their entrepreneurial ventures. The Student Startup programme has been implemented for four years by the Foundation for the Promotion of Innovation as part of the federal project Technology to support startup projects by students of Russian universities. This season, 43 projects of HSE University students are among the winners.
‘It Was Interesting to See How Our Chinese Colleagues Work’: HSE Researchers Take Part in Hefei Summer School
This summer, Diana Sukhoverkhova, Daria Mazur, and David Kagramanyan, research assistants at the MIEM HSE Laboratory for Computational Physics, spent five weeks in China. At the Future Scientist Exchange Program (FuSEP) summer school in Hefei, they worked in new fields of science together with their Chinese colleagues. HSE Explores the Needs of Deaf People
World Deaf Day is traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday of September. This year, the HSE Faculty of Social Sciences joined the celebration and, together with the Moscow branch of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf (VOG Moscow), launched a study of the needs of hearing-impaired Moscow residents in terms of social services and accessible environments.
A Dream Comes True on the Shores of Baikal

HSE and Sber Team Up to Train Specialists for Russian and Indian Markets
On September 5, 2025, at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), HSE University and Sber signed an agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation in economic, financial, and business education between Russia and India, as well as developing continuing education initiatives in both countries (including the implementation of joint, network, and exchange programmes). The agreement was signed by HSE Vice Rector Tatyana Vasilyeva and Sberbank’s First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board Alexander Vedyakhin.

‘My Goal Is to Shed Light on How Deaf Children Develop in Russia’
Having completed her PhD in the UK, Valeria Vinogradova dreams of applying her knowledge and experience to create an interdisciplinary centre for deafness studies in Russia. Anastasia Malashina defended her thesis on a topic related to cryptographic methods of information protection and is now engaged in applied projects in strategic analytics. In an interview with the Young Scientists of HSE University project, she discussed the difficulties she faced during her studies and explained what cryptography is and why large language models will not replace human intelligence.
