Researchers Use Nanotechnology to Improve the Accuracy of Measuring Devices

Scientists from Higher School of Economics and the Federal Scientific Research Centre ‘Crystallography and Photonics’ have synthesized multi-layered nanowires in order to study their magnetoresistance properties. Improving this effect will allow scientists to increase the accuracy of indicators of various measuring instruments, such as compasses and radiation monitors.

The 10th International Symposium of Overseas Indonesian Students Association Alliance (OISAA) will take place from July 23–26 at HSE’s Moscow campus. In the recently published article ‘Association of MAOA-uVNTR Polymorphism with Subjective Well-Being in Men,’ a team of researchers was able to statistically monitor the impact of the monoamine oxidase A gene (MAOA) on the subjective evaluation of well-being among men. This work became the latest step towards an understanding of how genes can affect social phenomena.

The Russian Summer School, Masterchain, was held at the Higher School of Economics. It provided students with experience in working with this platform beyond the sphere of banking. The students collaborated on innovative projects for solving real business problems in the field of FinTech.

Igor Agamirzian, HSE Vice President, Head of the Department for Management of Innovation, spoke about the development of the HSE’s innovation infrastructure, about attracting students to technological business projects, and about the master’s programme ‘Corporate Research, Development and Innovation Management’.
