Quality of Enrolment in Russian Universities in 2022: Key Findings
HSE University, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, presented the results of a programme to monitor the quality of enrolment in state-funded and fee-based places at Russian universities in 2022. The study was carried out at the HSE Institute of Education under the supervision of Yaroslav Kuzminov, HSE University Academic Supervisor.
‘Working in Academia Is My Lifelong Desire’
Majid Sohrabi is a 28 year-old student from Iran currently enrolled in a doctoral programme at the HSE University Faculty of Computer Science. Before starting his PhD, he graduated with honours from the university’s Master of Data Science programme. In addition to studying, he also works as an assistant at the School of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence and a research assistant at the Laboratory for Models and Methods of Computational Pragmatics.
‘When Ordinary People Administer Aid to Someone in Distress, It Lowers Mortality’
The HSE University Pokrovka Building is hosting a Safety Fair on February 6–8 and February 13. The event features master classes and seminars where students can find out what to do in emergencies: how to provide first aid to people in distress, what to do in the event of a fire, and how to stay calm in emergencies.
HSE Researchers Find Out How to Communicate Health Information More Effectively to Fight COVID-19
Focusing on mortality from the COVID-19 virus is no more effective than calls to wear masks and save lives, but it significantly increases people's anxiety. After conducting an experiment with over 15,000 respondents from 84 countries, an international group of researchers, including scientists from HSE, came to this conclusion. The results of the study have been published in the Affective Science journal.

HSE Student Among Winners of First Stage of City Improvement Competition
On January 30, the winners of the first stage of the City Improvement Competition were announced.One of the winners is Evgeny Shvirkov, a first-year student of the Bachelor’s in Public Administration at HSE University. Evgeny presented a project entitled ‘The Development and Improvement of the Availability of Healthcare as a Factor Improving the Quality of Russian Urban Life’. The competition was organised by VEB.RF and VK, and its academic partner was the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences.
'An Entrepreneur Has to Be Passionate About Their Business'
The results of the Russian part of the Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students' Survey (GUESSS 2021) have been published. It found that Russian students show interest in entrepreneurship more often and think about starting their own business five years after graduation. Galina Shirokova, Professor at the School of Economics and Management, Director of the Centre for Strategic Entrepreneurship, told us about other trends in the sphere of entrepreneurship.
