HSE Student Wins 2015 Labcitoyen French competition!

Tatiana Shakhova, a third-year student in HSE’s Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, has won the 2015 Labcitoyen competition. This year’s Labcitoyen competition was carried out by the Institut Français (Paris) and the Institut Français of Russia as part of preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP21, scheduled to take place in Paris in November and December 2015. The grand prize was a trip to Paris to attend the conference.

HSE Graduates Will Be Able to Confirm Their Qualifications More Easily with ACCA

The Higher School of Economics and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) have signed an agreement of mutual understanding. The agreement will allow in the future for some of the subjects taught at HSE to be recognised in ACCA’s accreditation process and opens up possibilities for students and graduates of financial programmes.

Second year Software Engineering students Vadim Drobinin and Alexander Zimin have been named the winners of the WWDC Scholarship. In June they will take part in the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is an annual international conference for Apple developers held in California 8-12 June.

At the HSE Faculty of Economics  Professor Marek Dabrowski teaches a Master’s course in Macroeconomic Policy in Transition and Emerging Economies. Global trends are changing and everything from consumer goods to life insurance is available online. Should education follow the trend of immediate online access or is there a special path for it? In December 2014 the course in Macroeconomic Policy in Transition and Emerging Economies was launched on Coursera. Could it help students from less developed countries achieve their career goals? HSE online student magazine Read Square has asked Professor Dabrowski to share his ideas.

School of Software Engineering Takes Part in the Creation of Vietnamese-Russian Technological University

The Vietnam-Russia academic conference that took place in Hanoi in April decided to establish a Vietnamese-Russian Technological University (VRTU) on the basis of the Le Quy Don University of Science and Technology. HSE’s School of Software Engineering is to play a key role in this process.

‘Our Students Are More Than Ready for Any Top-rated PhD Programme’

This year, 14 students and graduates of HSE's Faculty of Economics were admitted to PhD programmes at leading universities in the U.S. This is particularly noteworthy because nine of these students are seniors and graduates of HSE’s joint undergraduate programme with the New Economic School (NES) and of HSE’s undergraduate economics programme.

For the First Time, HSE Enters QS Top 100 Subject Rankings

HSE has entered the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2015 in the top 51-100 in Development Studies, and is the only Russian university in this category.

HSE Students Win International Humanitarian Law Competition

The winning team included students from the Jurisprudence programme in HSE's Faculty of Law: Yury Varlamov, Alina Gegamova, and Olga Kiseleva. The annual Martens International Humanitarian Law Competition is organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross with the support of the Russian Association of International Law.
