HSE ART GALLERY 2.0: Relaunch and New Space at the Winzavod

HSE ART GALLERY, which was established in 2018, is launching a new exhibition area. This second gallery will be in Winzavod, one of the largest private centres for contemporary art in Russia. The art space on Paveletskaya will become a place for implementing commercial projects and housing exhibitions by HSE Art and Design students and graduates.

HSE ART GALLERY was founded in 2018 as a place to support students in their first professional steps. Since then, there have been more than 40 exhibition projects, including many events held at partner sites: for example, at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.

The HSE ART GALLERY at Winzavod will continue to promote young artists, primarily students and graduates of various programmes of the HSE Art and Design School. In addition, the gallery plans to expand its cooperation with external artists, and build partnerships with other cultural spaces and platforms. New exhibitions are now able to be on a larger scale, and our educational programmes will be richer. The gallery will maintain close cooperation with the HSE ART AND DESIGN STORE, and a second branch of the concept store of the HSE Art and Design School will be opened at the new gallery site in Winzavod.

Arseniy Meshcheryakov, Head of HSE Art and Design School

‘The HSE Art and Design School is developing rapidly. This new space in Winzavod is no longer just a student gallery, but a gallery of young art that strives to take its place next to other leading cultural institutions.’

The first project in the new space will be unveiled on May 28th. The exhibition ‘Everything Always All at Once’, curated by Anzor Kankulov, Daria Pyrkina and Maria Stepanova, will present a panorama of the generation of twenty-year-olds—the first generation born and raised in the new millennium. The name of the project refers to the Oscar-winning film by Daniel Scheinert and Dan Kwan ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ that takes place in the multiverse: young artists and designers create a similar bizarre and surreal world in this exhibition.

The HSE ART GALLERY space on Paveletskaya will also develop its commercial activity. There will also be a number of  individual exhibitions by established students and graduates of the Art and Design School. By the beginning of the next exhibition season, in the autumn of 2024, an open storage room will have been established here.

The gallery exhibition programme will feature special events for collectors and the professional community, as well as individual meetings with artists and art consulting for gallery clients. The new exhibition opens on May 17th, 2024 and will be the first project at the new gallery site.
