The Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) has published their latest analytics on the digital internationalisation of Russian universities. This year, the English version of HSE University web portal topped the list.

RIAC has evaluated the English-language versions of university websites in Russia since 2015, in line with its own methodology. This is based on an analysis of 16 conceptual sections of websites, each addressing the needs of key target audiences.

In addition to HSE University, this year’s ranking includes 68 other academic institutions. At the top of this list, experts noted ‘continuing positive dynamics’ and ‘high competition’. HSE University received 99 points, with Ural Federal University snapping at its heels with 98.

Yuanqi Zhou, from China, Master’s student at HSE University

The HSE website is one of the clearest university websites I have ever seen, with the homepages of each faculty and research centre following a uniform standard.

Trang Ly, from Vietnam, Master’s student at HSE University and intern for the HSE English website team in 2022/23

I wrote weekly articles for the Life in Moscow series on the HSE University website. These often revolve around exhibitions and rich cultural sites in Russia. This has deepened my understanding of Russian culture and heritage. I have also developed better research skills, as I have to gather information about events, exhibitions, and cultural sites from various sources. I have also learned to adapt my writing style to suit the tone and purpose of the website.
