
HSE University Hosts China Academy of Art Delegation to Strengthen Academic and Research Cooperation
On December 12, HSE University welcomed a delegation from the China Academy of Art — one of the most prestigious creative universities in Asia. The visit built on the dialogue launched in September and reaffirmed the mutual interest in collaboration outlined during the visit of Natalia Logutova, Deputy Director of the HSE Institute for Creative Industries Development, to the academy’s campus in Hangzhou. The parties discussed ideas that could form the foundation for long-term partnership—from digital reconstructions of historical spaces to joint educational programmes and research initiatives.

Students of Master's in International Management Create Innovative Business Stories on AIM2Flourish Platform
On December 4, an award ceremony for participants of the AIM2Flourish international programme on sustainable business was held at the HSE University Graduate School of Business. This year, the initiative involved second-year students of the Master's in International Management united by their interest in innovative business models aimed at achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

HSE University–St Petersburg Holds First International School for Early-Career Researchers in Arab Studies
HSE University–St Petersburg has held the first 'Contemporary Studies of the Sultanate of Oman: Methods, Concepts, Texts' international school for early-career researchers. The programme gathered more than 30 students and experts from Russia, Oman, Italy, and France.

‘I Hope My Contribution Will Help the Development and Preservation of the Abkhaz Language’
Miron Baratelia, a student of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science, has integrated the Abkhaz language into the Yandex Translate service. The language is now available for translation from and into all languages supported by the platform. Miron spoke about his internship at a Russian multinational IT company and his successfully completed project in an interview with the HSE News Service.

On International Volunteer Day, December 5, 2025, the HSE Cultural Centre hosted its annual awards ceremony for students actively engaged in volunteer work. Throughout the year, these students supported the HSE Centre for Leadership and Volunteer Work by participating in a wide variety of events both on and off campus.

Scientists Discover Why Parents May Favour One Child Over Another
An international team that included Prof. Marina Butovskaya from HSE University studied how willing parents are to care for a child depending on the child’s resemblance to them. The researchers found that similarity to the mother or father affects the level of care provided by parents and grandparents differently. Moreover, this relationship varies across Russia, Brazil, and the United States, reflecting deep cultural differences in family structures in these countries. The study's findings have been published in Social Evolution & History.

HSE Scientists Contribute to Development of Postquantum Ring Signature for Sber
A new cryptographic data protection mechanism has been jointly proposed by experts from the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics, Sber, and QApp. The researchers have developed a postquantum ring signature scheme that ensures anonymity (within a defined group of participants), as well as the integrity and authentication of the source of digital transactions, even in the presence of an adversary equipped with a quantum computer.

HSE University–St Petersburg Hosts International Expert Day of Social Entrepreneurship
HSE University–St Petersburg has hosted the third expert meeting devoted to social entrepreneurship. The event featured presentations of two books that explore the roles of universities and business in creating conditions for developing a socially responsible society.

‘National Symbols of States Are an Integral Part of Cultural Code’
In December 2025, HSE University hosted the first Forum of the BRICS Law Schools Consortium organised by the HSE Faculty of Law. The forum brought together 42 international delegates (including 10 deans) from 14 universities in Belarus, China, South Africa, India, and Indonesia. The programme included expert discussions, the signing of cooperation agreements, and the adoption of decisions on the future areas of activity of the BRICS Law Schools Consortium, which was established at the initiative of the HSE Faculty of Law.

HSE Students Win IX CTF Russian Cup
The CTF Russian Cup is one of the country’s key cybersecurity competitions and is held in the CTF (capture the flag) format. The semi-finals and the final took place in December at the Smart City Pavilion at VDNH. The winners were the HSE student team VDNKh, whose members are students of the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM) and the HSE Faculty of Computer Science.
